After completing his medical training and OBGYN specialty training at the University of Ghent, Belgium in 2007, he joined the Centre for Reproductive Medicine of the Dutch speaking Free University of Brussels. There he obtained his PhD under the promotorship of Professor Paul Devroey in 2012 on research related to the clinical applications of oocyte cryopreservation. Later he became clinical professor and medical co-director at that centre until he joined medical affairs of MSD.
After 3 years in pharma as regional and later global medical director fertility, he returned to academia. He now is the head of the department of reproductive medicine of the university hospital Ghent and professor in Reproductive medicine at the Ghent University. He is currently member of the board of the Belgian Society for Reproductive Medicine (BSRM) and president of the Belgian College of physicians in reproductive medicine.
