I lead the Clinical Translational Metabolism Group, which has the overall goal of creating evidence of how to obtain healthy weight throughout life. My vision is to implement this evidence to prevent the onset of obesity in childhood. My research group is highly experienced with clinical experimental interventions, characterizing and integrating the complex psychological and biological mechanisms underlying obesity. My group works interdisciplinary and complement each other with a diverse background covering medical doctors, data scientist, human biologists, anthropologist, human physiologists, molecular biologist, public health, technicians and more. I have excellent experience within the field of interdisciplinary healthy weight loss maintenance with diet-induced weight loss, genetics, exercise programs and GLP-1 receptor agonist treatment in childhood-onset obesity, most recently published as state of the art in the highest ranking clinical journals such as The New England Journal of Medicine, Cell Metabolism, JACC, Circulation, Nature Communication and more. This approach has now been implemented in obesity clinics in Denmark and the UK. Invited by the Danish Embassy and Croatian Government to present and give strategic input to implement healthy weight loss maintenance and prevention of childhood obesity in Croatia. Principal investigator of many randomized controlled trials within obesity treatment and obesity cohorts integrating appetite regulation, gut hormones, diet, physical activity, behavioral and social aspects to investigate implementation, prevention, mechanisms, and treatment of obesity. The widespread coverage in Danish and international newspapers (such as Politiken and The Times and Guardian) and live television broadcasts (BBC, DR) underscore the significance of these endeavours.
