Certain aspects of the male factor in infertility remain contentious among specialists and require further research, according to experts. To explore these issues, the Andrology and Men’s Health Unit within the Reproductive Medicine Department at Dexeus Mujer organised an Interdisciplinary Workshop on Male Infertility for health professionals this month.
The aim of the workshop was to provide a forum for debate to review some fundamental concepts, evaluate the present and future of genetic studies in this area, explore the study of new molecular markers to improve therapeutic diagnostic strategies and discuss the latest developments in hormone treatments. Among the topics that remain controversial are optimal andrological assessment in the context of sexual and reproductive health, sperm analysis and selection techniques, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in andrology.
The event brought together esteemed experts in their respective fields, such as Dr Álvaro Vives, urologist-venereologist, Director of the Andrology and Men’s Sexual Health Unit and main organiser of the workshop.
- Lluís Bassas, consultant at the Andrology Department of Fundació Puigvert.
