Beatriz Carrasco received her degree in Biology from Córdoba University in 2003 and her Master´s degree in Assisted Human Reproduction from Córdoba University (2003-2005). She is an Embryologist Senior Specialist by the Association of the Biology of the Reproduction, ASEBIR (2011) and Senior Clinical Embryologist by ESHRE (2012).
Currently she is co-responsible of the In vitro fertilization laboratory at Hospital Universitari Dexeus in Barcelona, Spain, were she works as a Senior Embryologist of the IVF laboratory. As a clinical embryologist, she has long experience in the manipulation of oocytes, sperm, testicular material and embryos, micromanipulation, evaluation of embryonic development and cryopreservation, as well as the management, organization and development of the laboratory.
She does teaching activity in the master in Reproductive Biology and Assisted Human Reproduction Techniques at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Dexeus University Hospital.
She is a member of the permanent commission of the Embryology Interest Group of ASEBIR since November 2015, where performing multicentre studies, guidelines and publications.
The fields of research in which she recently worked have been perinatal outcomes depending on embryo culture conditions, the development of a morphokinetic algorithm for embryo scoring, evaluation of sex ratio at the blastocyst stage and the clinical outcome depending on the sex of the embryo and the update of the blastocyst grading system of ASEBIR carried out by The Special Interest Group Embryology of ASEBIR with the intention to reduce subjectivity in the blastocyst assessment.
