Prof. Simone Ferrero graduated from the University of Genova in Northern Italy and obtained his Ph.D. in the Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom with a thesis entitled “Protein and cellular studies on the peritoneal fluid of women with endometriosis”. Prof. Simone Ferrero has published over 150 peer-reviewed articles on endometriosis, edited two international books on endometriosis, wrote several book chapters, and had 120 presentations on endometriosis in scientific meetings. Since 2003 he had several oral presentations on endometriosis in the American Society for Reproductive Medicine annual meetings, and in 2010 he won the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS) Prize Paper Award. In addition, he had oral presentations on endometriosis in the annual meetings of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE), and of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ISUOG). Since 2016 Prof. Simone Ferrero is a member of the Steering Committee of the International Deep Endometriosis Analysis (IDEA) group of the ISUOG. The main areas of his research are the application of proteomic technology to the study of endometriosis, the diagnosis of deep endometriosis by ultrasonography and radiological techniques, the hormonal treatment of endometriosis, the surgical treatment of deep endometriosis, and the impact of endometriosis on pregnancy. Prof. Simone Ferrero has extensive experience in the ultrasonographic diagnosis of endometriosis, in the hormonal and the laparoscopic treatment of deep endometriosis. Prof. Simone Ferrero is currently recognized as the fifth worldwide expert on endometriosis by Expertscape.
